Is pain in my ankles that spread up to my knees tendinitis?

Is pain in my ankles that spread up to my knees tendinitis?Had pain in ankles. Someone said tendinitis. Been playing a lot of basketball and softball. Now there's pain in knees, especially after physical activity. Would this be tendinitis?
