Knee Disorders: Can knee problems cause upper leg pain?

Can knee problems cause upper leg pain?I've had some inner thigh and hip pain for a few months now. My chiropractor helps a little bit, but the pain is still there. Recently I've been getting more pain around my knee and I'm thinking maybe my leg/hip pain is some how related to my knee pain. Has anybody ever had a problem like this? I got new shoes with extra support to help my pain, and they also help to a point. Just wanted to get to the bottom of this so I can make my pain go away!

The problem is inter-related.

A pain in the knee affects your movement and naturally your body weight shifts to one side.
Therefore, the extra weight on one side affects the thighs which feel the strain.

Do not worry. Just rub your thighs vigorously with hot mustard oil for 10 minutes twice daily.

You will get well.
If possible start skipping , it is a good exercise.

Mana, the body is a machine that moves in a predictable way. Once you have altered the way in which it is used to moving it changes everything. If your hip and inner thigh have been bothering you then the way the leg swings will change and that will put more stress on the knee and back. The way to stop this problem is to work on the hip. Once the hip pain has stopped your walking will return to normal. So what you need to do is have the work done to your hips and take a look at your feet. For the feet I would suggest a podiatrist. If an orthotic is necessary they would custom make them. This would put your feet into a neutral position and allow the structures above to return to a normal position.

You can have tight muscles in your lower back pressing on the nerves going to your legs and hips to cause pains in them and you might have this going on. The only way of getting rid of this type of pain is to free up the muscles causing it and that would be your back muscles and here's how to free them up:
Back:
(do while sitting on a chair)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front, and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm as straight as possible. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, then release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Ok, Here is the big question- Does your chiropractor adjust your feet and knees? This sounds like a classic case of a misalignment in the feet. However, many chiropractors do not adjust the feet. If they have not adjusted your feet then you need to find one who does. I think that this will help you greatly. I have had patients with symptoms exactly like yours that had a great deal of relief after having their feet adjusted.

I really wish you the best

If the chiropractor has helped, continue this treatment. Ask him if he thinks an injection to the knee would help you. If so, see a pain specialist or an orthopedist. A simple cortisone injection may work wonders. And yes, knee problems can affect the upper leg- also cause alignment problems in your back. Remember, your body is all one unit, made up of lots of components that all have to work together.
