You could have strained a muscle. Just relax it. Try putting ice or a heating pad on it. Don't walk on it to much because that might make it worse and it'll take longer to get better. Try resting your leg for a few days.

Some Dr.'s have their head up their backside. Get a second opinion. It sounds like you pulled a tendon and need to be on crutches for a little while.
