Knee Popping?I have been having a knee popping noise when walking up stairs and when riding exercise bikes. I used to swim a lot and stopped doing it cause I would get real bad knee shock type pain if that makes sense in my right knee about 3 years ago. I had an incident when I was young where my knee I think popped out of place momentarily. The pain went away after 15 minutes, so I never have gone to see a doctor after all these knee issues. So basically what I am asking is the knee popping normal air in the knee or do I have something that I should see a doctor about?

I've had similar issues to you with the knee popping and locking (when it came out of place). Starting about 15 years ago, my kneecap has come out of alignment at least a half dozen times. So it's not very common, but tends to happen if I crouch down with a bent knee (when tying my shoes) and come up quickly.
I think the kneecap moves to the side a little, locks in place, and I can't straighten my leg! It feels so strange and hurts a little. Normally, I would just try to straighten my leg and it would pop back in place (this would hurt a lot, but go away by the end of the day), but I found that by sitting cross-legged and titlling my legs forward, the kneecap would gently shift back in place (wouldn't hurt as much).
My knees sometimes pop when I'm walking up stairs, as you experience, but this isn't too common for me.
Years ago, I went to see my family doctor about the knee locking and she told me not to be concerned. It just has to do with the physiology of my body, and the fact that I was growing when it started.
I would recommend that you see a doctor about this anyway, in case is it something that can be treated and for your peace of mind.
Good luck!

I've had this. For me it was chondromalacia. You may have a malformed knee cap or cartilage underneath. The more bike riding you can do, the better.
