How to tell when a meniscus tear is better?I just got the results of my MRI and I was told that I had a contusion which accounted for the pain and a meniscus tear. They said I should wait a month and see if it gets better so I don't have an unnecessary surgery. But if the pain is only from the contusion, if that gets better how will I know if my meniscus tear is healed?

When you tear your meniscus, you destabilize you knee a bit. Your knee will not feel as strong underneath you. You probably haven't noticed this though because the contusion is masking it. Once the contusion goes away and if your knee is completely stable (doesn't collapse or waver under you when you pivot on it), then you will know that the tear is healed.
