Knee Bursitis and Kneeling?I am 19 and have bursitis of the knee (a fluid-filled sac) because of strain due to being overweight. I haven't started any treatment for it yet except for prescription-strength NSAIDs. I just had x-rays done so I don't know the full diagnosis yet.
Will I ever be able to put full weight on the knee when sitting/kneeling again? How is this condition treated in the long-term? I would love to be able to take a bath but I have to roll onto the knee in order to get up. The NSAIDs have made it feel much less stiff and better in general (I'm not limping like I was previously).

Use ice on the knee for fifteen to twenty minutes per hour. Keep the knee moving to prevent stiffness from occurring. Take a large towel and roll it up. From a long sitting position place the towel roll under the injured knee. Have the muscles of the leg push down into the towel and keep pushing for a few seconds. Relax and repeat that cycle about five to ten times. There is no damage that is going to happen as the knee joint is not moving. This will help to maintain some strength in the knee and help you to recover. You are most likely going to require some physical therapy but wait until the diagnosis is given and then ask for it if the doctor doesn't recommend it. Keep using the ice as it will do more for reducing the swelling and pain that the medication. Keep using the medication until the doctor tells you to stop or it runs out.
