Knee Problem?


Knee Problem?First is my knee problem. back in july 2004 i was playing at a soccer tournement and a was the goalie so i went down to get the ball and i hit the hard dry ground and after we got screwed in the finals i looked at my knee and it was swollen. So a year later i went to the knee doctor and he told me that it was sprained the x rays came back fine he told me to stay off it for 3 months and noting has changed but my knee still hurts it gets stiff one day i got up and my knee just locked up so i couldn't move for at least 15 min so now it has been 3 years and my knee is still swollen it is grinding, stiff, popping and pain every time i put presure on it can't sit or stand for 20-30 min, pain won't go away plz help me i want to find out and get better.

You very likely have a torn or injured meniscus...and possibly a problem with one of the ligaments (lateral, medial, anterior cruciate, or posterior cruciate). An x-ray would not be helpful for seeing or diagnosing this. You need a knee MRI, which will look for ligamentous injury. And an orthopedic surgeon could fix this or do a knee arthroscopy (simple surgery) to fix this and see if anything else is wrong to fix with the meniscus, etc.

At the very least, get an MRI or see an orthopedic surgeon.

You don't want to let this continue...
