Sore knees?I recently was practicing for soccer, and one day my knees were aching when i contracted them. It hurts on the inner side of my knees. It doesn't hurt when I walk, but sometimes it feels pain when i twist or turn it. I don't know if it is runner's knee or overused knees or just plain old sore knees. Sometimes I can't tell if the pain is in my knee joints or my muscle there. I am 15 and about to start a soccer season in a week. I asked a pharmacist (who happened to have knee problems and play soccer) and he said massage, ice and knee brace and i can go play my first game in a week. I need more advice, info, and suggestions. Should I go play if I wear a knee brace? Should I go see a doctor? What should I do? Is it runner's knee? How do I tell what it is? How long will it take to heal and be okay?
It is both knees but a little more in my left. I don't think it is acl because it is not searing pain and it's in both legs.

simple aspirin or tylenol might help for immediate pain, but yes, check out a doctor. Your knees can be very tender. I'm 55 and mine are very delicate!! Good luck.

definately go see a doc. it could be a torn acl or bursitis

i'm 15, too. :] i did cheerleading and tumbling makes knees hurts alot. in my case, my bones that met at the knee were pushing and hitting eachother, causing the stuff in between them (idk what it's called) to be rubbed down, and that's what caused the pain. i do icyhots and knee braces are good, too. the soft, sport kind. i've never had a massage, so idk about that. sorry if this didn't help. just thought i'd try to share the little bit that i know. oh, it could also be your muscles.you get tiny tears in your muscles when you work out. it's natural, not dangerous (so don't worry). try building up your excercise a little bit at a time, giving yourself time to recover. usually a day off between workout days are good. they could just be overstretched. that fades as time goes on.

I would go see a doctor. A couple of months ago my knee was hurting me pretty bad. I went to the ortho. dr. and he drained fluid from my knee and gave me a cortizone shot. I had an MRI done on it and it turned out to be something called Baker's cyst. Look this up and see what you think! Good luck and try not to re-injure it during the soccer season. He gave me a prescription for Naproxen and as long as I take that faithfully my knee don't bother me as bad but even after two months if I miss taking the med. a couple of days, I have to pay for it. I've been without it for about 2-3 days and my knee is throbbing right now!!! Again, good luck and see your dr.
