What are some exercises that wont cause too much knee pain?

What are some exercises that wont cause too much knee pain?Hello, thank you for everyone that is going to seriously help answer this. I am very ready to lose weight...I am obese and I have been working on doing Weight Watchers. I know that I need to work out to lose weight, the problem is that I already have bad knees from being overweight I assume. My knees hurt daily, from just being at work (I am always on my feet) I have tried different shoes but it hasn't helped. For exercises I have tried the elliptical, stationary bike, treadmill, etc. I do love to swim but don't have a pool, or the money to join a fancy gym with a pool. I'm not sure what else to do. I have thought about just doing whatever and try to deal with the pain but my knees end up in really bad shape and I don't want to damage them. Some people have said to work on the diet first then start the exercise when I have lost enough weight, however I feel as though that will be too far away, and I am worried about my health...because of my weight. Any (serious) tips/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

You should start dieting that will help and maybe you could try a slow walk on the treadmill. Sometimes gyms offer things like water aerobics and they usually aren't expensive.

Good for you on wanting to combine exercise with calorie reduction! That will be key in your weight loss success. Based on what you've said, I'd recommend Yoga or Pilates. Buy some dvds from a local store, and get started. Both are excellent for weight loss, and involve a lot of floor work/stretching. Just skip any that involve knee stress, and replace them with ones that don't hurt or cause discomfort.

You can definitely do a lot of floor work that will tone and strengthen you, and if I could show you examples in person, I certainly would. Exercises like planks, lying leg lifts, lying hip/butt lifts, push ups, and sit ups are some examples. Good luck!!
