I as well deal with knee injuries and I have yet to go actually see someone about it.. But I will be a hypocrite here and say go get it checked out.. You do not need to go to a hospital or anything maybe a sports clinic that deals with these sorts of joint and knee issues quiet frequently.. It could be any number of things really..
Take an anti inflammatory and give it a few days if it does not go away get it checked out. No need to be embarrassed.. If you didn't have anything wrong with your knee it wouldn't be hurting right?

first of all one never embarass self while visiting a doctor. one does'nt know about his health problems that's why he consults a doctor.
now as it seems u spend most of ur time sitting on a chair and this has caused ur knee joints to behave this way.
prefer going for a morning walk daily.if u experience pain u can apply some ointment under strict prescription of a doctor. if problem persist consult a doctor.

One of my knees does that too, when I bent it it makes a sound and when it does it it sometimes hurts, it hurts more the longer I have it bent, But it doesn't hurt when I walk...I've had this for more than two years and I haven't seen a doctor,it didn't get worse, it got better... I don't know if its the same thing but you should go see a doctor if you really think you should know better.

Your knee joint sounds unstable. Get it fixed now, before it gives way and you need surgery.

i hate to tell you this but it is something a doctor told me quite a few years ago. 25 is actually the true start of middle age. that is when things start to go wrong with the body. it is possible that the fluid that people have in their joints is not in the knee where it should be and the joint is rubbing together (ever hear a popping sound in your knee?). what you are experiencing is probably the start of arthritis. you make want to talk to your doctor about it just to make sure that i am right. if i am there are over the counter meds that you can take for the problem. also at 25 you are probably into a lot of sports. it is possible that in one of these sports that you injured your knee without being aware of it at the time and you are just now aware of it. again you might want to talk to your doctor about it. he/she may want you to go to a specialist to make sure that there is no serious injury. if there is something wrong with it and you keep using it you will wind up like my son and having two surgeries on it at a young age and winding up on disability. AND yes i am trying to scare you into taking care of it.
