How do I prevent my knees from hurting after working out or dancing?


How do I prevent my knees from hurting after working out or dancing?Every time I work out at the gym (which I do low impact work-outs) or go dancing, my knees hurt the next day. They hurt to the point of where I can't walk up stairs or bend them. I'm only 18 and I'm not sure what I can do to make them stronger and I have always had weak knees. I can only imagine it will get worse as I get older.

I take ibuprofen, but maybe you should see a doctor! It seems like it happens a lot at your young age. :)

take time off from dancing. Stationary biking and running (dancing) in water are excellent alternatives. Besides biking and aquatics while not dancing, ice massage, oral anti-inflammatories (if tolerated) and work on correcting the biomechanical problems should be done, i.e. excessive rolling of the feet, too short Achilles tendons.
