Im about to ship off to basic training, but I have bad knee pain when I run?Any suggestions? IDK if I pulled a muscle or its something worse. But, its definatly too painful to run.

Take a couple days off running and stretch like crazy?

In my case knee pain comes from swelling of the synovial fluid due to high stress on the patellar tendon. I had to quit playing basketball cold, but i continue to play tennis, I just wear a knee brace with a patellar tendon strap (or use a chopat strap like you see some athletes use), and take glucosamine-chondroitin-MSN pills, these 2 things do the trick for me, but long distance running and bball type jumping activity is out of the question in my case (for good). You must be young if you are going to basic training, you might have some other problem. Go see a general physician or an orthopedic doctor/surgeon. Or just take a week off from running and jumping and see if the pain goes away, in which case you just have a strain. But i am not an MD, so wait for an MD response to your question.

You need to chat to medical, find out what's going on. If it's serious, then you need to get it fixed before you run on it. Until you can see them, I'd be icing it or using heat, whichever feels better (also dependent upon when the injury occurred, don't use heat within the first 24 hours)

Tell you recruiter, they'll take you to get it checked out.Its better to fix it before, than waiting for it to heal and getting stuck in basic for months.
