Knee Disorders: I'm having knee problems, what do you think might be wrong?

I'm having knee problems, what do you think might be wrong?Symptoms:
- My knee (left one only) randomly gives out when I'm walking (Read as: When I step with my left foot, sometimes my leg won't stay straight and I'll fall forward), and this happens once or twice a day.
- It randomly hurts, usually when I'm walking around. It's not too bad though. I can bear it, but I still don't like being in pain.
- I get an "awkward" feeling in my knee whenever it's against something (Ex. I'm sitting on the bus and my knee is touching the seat in front of me). It doesn't hurt, it just feels weird. (The other knee will feel fine when I do it and it's never felt awkward before)

I'm not sure what's causing this, because I haven't fallen over and sprained anything. :/ It started a little bit after I woke up one morning, but I kind of doubt that sleeping on my leg wrong would cause a problem for this long! (It's been about a month)

PLEASE do not suggest going to a doctor because I plan on doing it. I'm currently looking for a new place to transfer to because my old doctor was terrible with dealing with another problem of mine. :/

Please give me your opinions and maybe some things to watch out for. :) Thanks.

Maybe you have fluid on your knee, also sounds like your cartlidge is messed up, like something is slipping out of place in there. I'd just be careful, don't do any kind of exercise or sports till you see the doctor.
