Knee Disorders: My Fiancee has severe knee pain do to an accident how can i help?

My Fiancee has severe knee pain do to an accident how can i help?My fiancee got in to an a Motorcycle accident today and we went to the hospital they said he just strained ligaments and tendons. They said he'd be fine but he is in so much pain hes on the verge of tears. and i don't know how to make him feel better. I have had Knee surgeries so i have massive amounts of Ice packs and I put those on his knee and he takes Ibuprofen. I just don't know what to do, any advice on how to help him?

- Brenda P
Call the ER where he was seen and ask if they will call in a prescription for a stronger pain drug to a 24 hour pharmacy in your area. They may only give you a couple of pills but it will help if it makes it possible for him to sleep. Other than that, you are doing all a person can, giving ice, ibuprofen, empathy and helping him stay off of it.

I don't know who thumbed down Brenda, but she's right;; the ER should have given him pain meds;; the icing should also be done in intervals..15-20 mins..any longer, it will counter what you are trying to do;; also try propping the calves up on pillows, so the feet are hanguing off; I will guarantee he is guarding those knees because he is in so much pain that it is only producing more pain;; get them relaxed..a slightly flexed supportive posturing is the best for him;; he also NEEDS to get up & walk;; if he can't, then again, contact the ER for crutches....& btw, the ''massive amounts" of ice packs won't do;; flexible gel cold packs on the part of the knee that opens will be the best place for him;; but he NEEDS to move those legs...you can "help him" do that, but don't do ALL the work;; he's got to move them himself to get the responses he wants...

call the doctor and see if you can get a prescription for him of vicadin that will help a lot.

www.helpmykneepain.com- Before learning about cold laser therapy and Dr. Alexandra Schnee's Cold Laser Knee Program at the DFW Spine & Joint Center, Royse R. was told that he needed two total knee replacements because he had 'bone on bone' knee pain. His knee pain was so severe that he needed crutches to get around. He became convinced to give cold laser therapy a try after reading about Lance Armstrong using cold laser therapy before he won his last Tour De France. Now after completing Dr. Schnee's Cold Laser Knee Program Texas resident is pain-free and thankful that he is able to avoid knee surgery.
