Knee Problem- Pain, swelling, unstable?I've had this knee pain for a while in my left knee. It hurts when I walk upstairs and when I bend my knee. It catches and makes a clicking sound when I bend it, and there's pain and swellin around my knee cap, with pain underneath my knee cap and to the right of it. I went to the doctor,got some xrays and he told me to use an ace bandage and ice and of it doesn't help to get an MRI. This was yesterday, and my knee pain has been going on for about two weeks. I had previously twisted it, but it wasn't too severe, however my doctor did tell me i definitely had cartilage inflammation. The ace bandage has seems to make the pain worse since it puts pressure. My knee has also felt unstable.
Any ideas on what could be wrong, or what to do to help?

i had something similar to this, but it might no be the same
when i kept my knee bent for a long amout of time it used to create a very strong ache within my knee, i tried massaging it and it did nothing, even when i streached it the ache still remained in my knee. it got worse over time, i had fluid building up in my knee witch was noticeable when i did bend it, it used to bunge around the side of my knee cap, it was like a fingernail deep with fluid. i was a man about it (hehe) and it gradually went away over time, the pain became less and less and the fluid seemed to dissapear
but if this dosent sound like your knee, i would advise seeing a knee specialist, ask your gp if they can get you an appointment with one

i had the same thing. i dealt with it for about a year and then i went to the Dr's and he took x rays and didn't find anything and then he told me to go to a orthopedic doctor and when i went there he told me to get an MRI and i did and i had a torn patella tendon which could either fix itself and if not have surgery. well he gave me a brace and told me to take it easy and took me outta gym class and then i went back and nothing helped and he gave me a cord-ozone shot and told me to come back in 4 weeks and that didn't work so on october 12, 2009 i had arthroscopic knee surgery to make sure my knee cap was aliened right and fix the torn tendon. hope this help. good luck.
