Morbid Obesity at a very young age.?Hello, my name is Jessica. Currently I am 5'4" and weigh 264lbs. My BMI is up to a staggering 45.3%, at only 16 years of age. I am looking for any kind of information I can get my hands on. Most of my weight issues could probably be attributed to laziness and lack of motivation, brought on by several disorders I suffer, yes suffer, from. Three years ago I was diagnosed with ADHD Combined Type, Major Depression Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and mild Social Anxiety Disorder. There have been many times where I have tried to bring my weight issues to the attention of my parents--and even doctor--as obesity runs in my family, to no avail. Whilst my aunt is treated for Hypothyroidism, I have been tested with clean results. I have also been on many medications for sleep problems, depression and ADHD. Strattera, Welbutrin, Adderall XR, Zopiclone, Nortriptyline, Trazodone, etc. At the age that I am--I do not have open access to a gym, or gym equipment. Around this time, walking is something I struggle with. Because of my size and inactivity, my hip, knee and ankle joints are very intolerant. Sometimes my feet, and even from the knee down, will become blue-grey, or pink in color, and very cold to the touch. My doctor dismissed this as "quite common, and nothing to be afraid of." For personal reasons, I no longer attend a public school. At this point I am terrified of becoming a -much- larger adult, and really not being able to do much about it. I would like to know what my options are for losing weight/becoming healthy. I must start slowly. Things like Power90 and the 30 Day Shred is not the right place for me to begin.
* Also, is there some kind of prescription medication I could ask my doctor for to assist me in putting off pounds? Please keep in mind I do not have access to a pool or gym.
What are my options? Any suggestions?..

I would talk to your parents about getting you a treadmill to start walking on daily. Once some of the weight starts to come off, you'll be able to move better.
I would talk to your doctor seriously about your weight issue. There is no way he can absolutely ignore this situation.
Avoid sugar to start with. No soda, candy, cookies, cake. Then stop all fried foods. No potato chips, french fries, fried chicken, taco shells...anything like that.
Increase your water intake. Eat fruits and veggies.
Hang in there...you can do it. Just keep positive and KEEP THE MOTIVATION THAT PROMPTED YOU TO POST THIS QUESTION!
Always remember you are not alone in your weight loss travels...

You need to figure this out for yourself if your parents and doctors do not help.
You need to figure out a calorie intake for your age weight and height.
I am not a doctor so do not quote me but I would say if you are in active somewhere around 1500 calories a day.
Do not have sweets. STAY AWAY FROM SODA.
try to limmit fat intake.
Eat alot of fruits and vegitables when you are snacking.
Fruits and veggies should be your main food groups.
Drink lots of water and mostly water.
You need to walk. Start walking around the house.
Do leg lifts while sitting.
It will be a lot of work and very discouraging at times. The weight will not come off right away, you have to keep at it.

Try walking, even if it's just around the house. Gradually increase your pace and time spent doing it as you get used to it. It's not much but I'd wager it's a good place to start. And watch your food intake; I don't mean starve yourself to anorexia of course, but don't overeat either and try to avoid really greasy stuff. Good luck.

uh, first of all how much processed food are you eating?
remember, all processed foods are inflammatory foods and are the known cause of most major chronic disorders...
and no... diets are another major cause of health issues..
how about cut out processed food?

Common Signs and Symptoms of Arthritis
www.megavista-health.com There are several types of arthritis, the most prevalent of which are rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is also known as degenerative joint disease, and it is associated with aging. Rheumatoid arthritis commonly appears in middle age, and is far more common in women than in men. There does not seem to be a correlation between certain ethnic or racial groups and the prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis, and it can also affect children and young adults. www.megavista-health.com Psoriatic arthritis is characterized by inflammation of the skin and joints. Psoriasis is a common skin disorder that causes inflammation of the skin. When the inflammation also affects the joints, it is known as psoriatic arthritis. About 10% of patients with psoriasis will develop psoriatic arthritis. This systemic, rheumatic disease can also cause inflammation in areas other than the skin and joints, such as the eyes, heart, kidneys, or even the lungs. www.megavista-health.com Clearly, the most common identifiable sign of arthritis is chronic pain in the affected area.
