my wife is 34 years and her right knee has a lot of pain while climbing steps and walking ,?I want to ask is it safe to wear high heeled shoes, she has a history of arthiritis in her family, is the knee pain starting of the problem?, her mothers knee cartilage has worn out ,has this also started with her? is there a remedy for it??

Sounds like arthritis to me. I have it in both knees, and have even been in medical studies because of it. I've had both knees operated on and have a knee replacement in my future.

Tell her it's time to stop wearing heels. Get her into the gym for some exercises to strengthen her quadricep muscles and get in some cardio on a low impact machine like an elliptical.

I hope that doesnt stop her from spending too much time on her knees. That would suck for you... no pun intended.

Sounds like the onset of arthritis. But, if your wife is overweight, taking off a few pounds will also alleviate the problem a lot. By all means suggest that she were high heels that don't have that high a heel; there are lots of mini-heels out there and wedgies offer more support. I'd say stay below 2" for heel height. If you can find what used to be called "Mary Quant" heels, they are good. Basically, they're about 1" tall tapered heels that give a suggestion of the spiked heel appearance but offer a better support base.

Probably. It is a genetic thing. But the only way to know is to go to the doctor and get tested. If high heels bother her more, then tell her not to wear them. I am 23 and because of cheering back in high school I have low cartilage in my hips. It hurts. So just because she is young doesn't mean she doesn't have a problem. And it can get serious if not treated. But only a doctor will know for sure what is really going on. Make an appointment for her and get her in sooner than later.
