You are retaining water on the knee. could be caused from standing on it to long etc. definetly call the dr. put your leg up and put a cold pack on it. until the appt. and try and stay off of it for a while. did you dislocate it at all. hmm. make that call.

When I was 25 I had symptoms similar to yours. Finally my knee became so swollen it was extremely difficult to walk. The skin felt so stretched and tight I though my knee was going to pop out. I went to the doctor and they did xrays and took blood, as well as drained some of the fluid from my knee. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. You could have something entirely different. You should go to the doctor.
For immediate relief take an anti inflammatory like Motrin, Alieve etc. You need to take it as directed because for anti inflammatory to work correctly they need to remain in your system to help reduce the swelling. Good Luck

It could be from swelling. It will retain water
Does it feel warm when you touch it?
If it continues and does not get better, after ice and evelation (elevate so your leg is above your heart when laying down) then you need to see a doctor

I had this during basketball. I fell on my knee and my knee cap moved up and I popped the pocket of fluid under the knee cap called the patella... It swelled up to the point where I ad troule walking.
Try icing it alot and if your active... try no to land on your knee... wear a knee pad when you play sports to proect it
