I suspect that I suffered a knee tendinitis from running too much?

I suspect that I suffered a knee tendinitis from running too much? The pain began 4 or 5 days ago. It was an on-and-off thing, but it felt sharp. Now it has largely subsided and happens only when I walk quickly. Do you think it is serious?

I will refrain from heavy activities for a while, but I hope that I haven't damaged it too much. Thanks.

Where is the pain? if it is behind your knee or on the outside of your knee it could be an IT band injury. If it is in the front you could have a slight tear in your miniscus or ACL. If it continues to bother you i would get it looked at. I have experience IT band tears before and it is very painful, but something that you can still run with. Usually a major problem is when the muscles in your legs are not balanced properly. For instance i had weak muscles on the outside and back of my legs that i needed to work on in order to stregthen my form. You can also determine what your problem is by whether or not you pronate. It is best to rest for a while and do some leg strengthening exercises, but if it persists or gets worse an MRI is a good idea.
