here are symptoms for a knee problem, please help?

here are symptoms for a knee problem, please help?i twisted/overused my knee horsebackriding. it really hurts, probably a 9 out of the 1-10 scale. i am on crutches but when i don't use them (when i'm around the house), my limp is horrific and it like bends at about maybe a 50 degree angle. i can't fully bend or straighten it, and it is super unstable.

my doctor transferred me to a knee specialist who didnt even look at my knee/do any tests besides order an MRI. the MRI came out clean, so the specialist referred me to physical therapy. the PT assumed that it was an ACL tear, that the MRI missed it. i went to a second doc, just to see if he had any ideas and he told me to get a bone scan.

anyone know what this could be? also, would a bone scan help diagnose it, or would it just be stealing money?

Yeah I think the doctor should have looked a little more at the knee. I know it may be painful but you could have someone pull the knee forward to see if the tibia/fibula moves underneath it. If the knee moves forward, then you most likely have an ACL tear, since it is what keeps your knee from sliding forward. If you push it the other way, you can check your PCL ligament, which keeps your knee from moving posterior. If it was me, I would have done that before ordering any scans. But scans don't catch everything all the time and if you didn't hold perfectly still it can be hard to read. So I wouldn't say that he's trying to waste your money, but use your best judgement. Bone scans can help detect fractures, tumors, or infections. You may just have a hairline fracture instead. Also see if you have any problems/pain associated with moving your knee side to side. Often ACL tears are associated with the medial collateral ligament (MCL) and the medial meniscus. They are connected pretty closely so they often tear in a triad.

the ACL stump or the meniscus (may have been torn) pieces got lodged in the joint space. sio you might have a displaced meniscal injury along with ACL tear.
Go to a GOOD knee surgeon and tell him/her about your knee, and get a new MRI done.

also if you live in PA, I know of an Oustanding Knee surgeon. You are welcomed to PM me and I can give u the info u need regarding a new surgeon.
