By your information, it would appear that you are high school or college student age. If so, likely you are experiencing the clicking and pain under your knee caps (patellas) instead of within the main knee joints. Again, if so, the condition you are experiencing is likely "chondromalacia patella." This means that likely the cartilage under your knee cap is irritated and the reason it is being irritated is because the knee cap isn't sliding in the right location when you bend your knees. In the 25+ years of practice as a chiropractor, the most common cause I have found isn't at the knee itself but rather because of a problem within the patient's feet. The patient's arches of the feet either haven't developed properly or they have lost their integrity and have fallen. When this happens, the lower leg turns inward excessively when the patient bears weight on that foot and this pulls the knee cap too far inwardly as well. The solution has been to fit the patient with specially made arch supports (orthotics) and to have them perform specific rehab exercises to balance the tone/strength in the muscles of the leg which move the knee/knee cap. The company which we use for orthotics is called "Foot Levelers" and we have had high levels of satisfaction.
Consult with a chiropractor who works with this type of problem and who also perscribes orthotics and you will likely have the solution which will help you feel better and it will also improve your performance.
All the best!!
