How long does it take to get rid of Runners Knee (chondromalcia)?

How long does it take to get rid of Runners Knee (chondromalcia)?I got runners knee on Sat from running. Ive since stopped running, but I still go to the gym every day for boxing. After and during boxing my knee hurts and I go home to ice and take anti inflamatories. How long should this take to heal? I know everyone is different, so im just looking for a rough time frame. Thanks

it does take very long for it too help because you are doing activities your body is not ready for.you MUST rest. Any activity that causes chondromalacia knee pain, be it a run, walking up steps, or anything else, is causing further irritation to the cartilage under the kneecap. You need to give your body a chance to heal. Like boxing for you.Without specific exercises to balance these muscles, and a proper stretching routine, the problem of chondromalacia will likely not be solved. Doing the exercises every day is an important part of treatment.

I agree, it needs time to heal. Maybe work on other parts of your upper body until you knee heals. Probably two weeks to be safe. Keep up the ice though.
