Knee Disorders: Do I have to take earrings out for a MRI of my knee?

Do I have to take earrings out for a MRI of my knee?I hurt my knee a month ago, and my doctor said that if it still hurts in a month, that I may need and MRI of my knee. It still hurts, so I'm going to make an appointment. But, I've been planning for a while to get my ears pierced next week. So, do I need to wait to get my ears pierced? Or is it ok to wear earrings because the MRI is just of my knee?

- eek!?!?!
most likely but when you do it they ask you to take them out

- Christian
yes unless you want them to rip out your ears

You will have to take them out for the MRI. Not so much for your safety but for the safety of the equipment. The hospital doesn't want foreign objects getting pulled into the MRI. If they have to take the unit out of service it would cost the hospital tens of thousands of dollars every day it was down.
