Knee pain/swelling...please help!!!?I'm at work and I am not sure what to do...I was bending down to pick something up and my knee felt like it was bending the wrong way and like a muscle was pulling really really tight and there was also a popping. It is on the inside of my knee. Now my whole leg from my top of my knee down to my toes is swollen and feels tight...I am not done with work for another 4 1/2 hours and my boss wont come in unless it is an absolute emergency and plus i dont have insurance so I would rather go to the walk-in than the ER so any advice would be greatly appreciated along with what you think may be wrong... Thanks

probably just pulled a muscle i suggest icing it and staying off of it for awhile if pain continues go see a md(medical doctor)

this can be very common ice will help the swelling sit down this is a common effect of a tight hamstring stretching lightly will hurt but will help a wrap may help to buy EPSON salts to take a bath with works good lay down and get plenty of sleep take most weight of of it if the swelling doesn't go down within 2 days seek medical help try to get on your knees and lean back as far as possible once it feels ok make shure to strech regularly

Listen, popping sound in the knee is not good. If you can walk on it without too much pain, you could wait and see, but if there's a lot of pain or swelling and if it starts to bruise, or if it gets worse, then see a doctor. Get some ice and put it in a plastic bag on your knee - do it for 10 minutes on and 10 off and keep doing it. Put your leg up on a chair to keep the blood from flowing down into it - that will help with the swelling. Take some pain relievers - tylenol, motrin, ibuprofen, whatever you have - that will also help with the inflammation. A walk-in would definitely be better than ER - I save ER's for bleeding injuries. You may have stretched or torn a ligament, or popped the knee cap out of place. Take it real easy for now and until you can get medical attention. Take care not to put too much weight on it when you walk as well. Good luck.

It seems this is a direct result of something happening when you bent your knee. It is most likely a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) It will be the twisting force when you knelt down that caused it. Rest and ice can help ease the swelling also elevate your leg. You do need to get to a doctor as soon as possible. Any extra activity you do could make it worse and prolong the healing.
