swollen knee?I am not sure what it could be but a few months ago I sprained my knee. But it is a little swollen but not that much and the whole knee isnt swollen just a little quarter shaped swelling on the left side of my knee. do u think that it could be just another spain or something a torn ligament? If you think that it could be a torn ligament what ligament do u think that it could be?

from my experience if it were a torn ligament you would DEFINATELY know...
i would guess that you have strained or torn a cartiledge miniscus....the small discs of cartiledge located strategically around your knee...
not a doc obviously but that may explain the isolated swelling...
do you recall re-injuring it or taking part in an activity recently that may have strained it?
If this has just happened then I would try ice/heat/ice/heat and see if you can reduce the swelling

Torn ligaments cause water on the knee
Or it could be 'bursitis'

could you explain some of your symptoms? here are some examples of what you could have done.
having trouble straightening your knee or walking? possibly a tear in your meniscus
bend your knee thirty degrees. have someone put a small amount of force on the inside of your knee. if you feel pain, you might have torn/sprained your LCL
bend you knee thirty degrees, have someone put force on teh outside of your knee. if you feel pain, you may have torn/sprained your MCL
if your knee is unstable and gives out periodically, you may have sprained/tore your PCL
put your knee in a 90 degree angle and have it hang off the edge of a table that you are sitting on. have someone pull gently on your lower leg with a hand behind your knee. have that person do the same test to your other knee. if there is a difference in the laxity, you may have sprained/tore your ACL.
you should see your doctor ASAP and see if you need an MRI. an MRI will show exactly what you have done. after this long, its unlikely that you only sprained something, you probably have a tear somewhere. ice the swollen area and try to stay off your knee if its painful. good luck in your recovery
Hi,I did the following:
Swollen Knee
Hi guys, I recently got into a motorcycle crash where my left leg was pinned to the ground. It happened exactly a week ago and my leg improved only a little bit. I went to the ER and they told me to return if it still hurt a week later (now). I really want to know whats wrong with my leg and how long it will take to heal. Please leave comments and suggestions, thanks!
