Knee Disorders: Upper Calf Sports Injury?

Upper Calf Sports Injury?Hey all, so about 4 or 5 weeks ago I was "injured" in a soccer match it was about 15 minutes from the end of the first half, but I went back in during the second half.

Now whats ailing me is that when I kick the soccer ball with my right leg (the one that got injured) it sends a sharp pain to the very upper outer side of my calf, but I also feel it in that tube-like structure under your knee.

I haven't found a way to stretch it but I have iced it a couple times, that doesn't really help though. Just to let you all know I can and do play with it now, it's absolutely fine running and I can pass with the inside of my foot. Doing things with the inside of my foot doesn't hurt nearly as bad but I really need to be able to shoot with my right foot (my left is preferred anyways) but you know how it is.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what it might be or what I can do to heal it? School soccer tryouts are in a couple weeks and I would love to be healed up for them!

Thanks all!

Possible you messed up your hamstring - bicep femoris - the outside hamstring. It is that tube structure behind your knee on the outside. A ballistic movement such as shooting the ball will cause a great pull on the hamstrings. Keep icing and stretching it. If it persists you may want to see your physician or a Physical Therapist.
