what are some good knee strengthening exercises?i tore my meniscus in my left knee about a year or 2 ago and I do competitive cheerleading and i have to tumble a lot and i always need to wear my brace. i have tried to tumble without my brace but it gets really sore and swollen within 20 minutes of not wearing the brace. and if i walk a lot like at an amusement park or run a lot it gets so sore to the point i need to ice and take Advil. any suggestions to what i could do?

Well, have you seen your orthopedist lately? Did you have a MRI to confirm the tear? Was it large enough to need arthroscopic surgery? Usually, if it's smaller and you are not having symptoms like giving way or locking of the joint, they may try rest, physical therapy, bracing, and icing. Did you go through physical therapy? That would be the ideal place to rehab your knee and get the strengthening exercises. I have been to physical therapy for my knee both before and after surgery, but I had a different problem, so I'm not sure if mine would help you. You shouldn't be doing anything that causes a lot of pain as you probably irritating the knee.
However, I do straight leg raises, exercise where I put a can under my knee then lift my lower leg so my leg is straight, terminal knee extensions, hamstring curls, step ups, walking or biking, wall squats with a large ball behind my back, etc.
Best bet, however, would be to see an orthopedist or a physical therapist/athletic trainer since you are an individual and not all knees are the same.
Good Luck :)
