should I get surgery for my torn meniscus tear on my knee?My doctor said I should have surgery for a medial tear of the meniscus, I would like to hear from people who have already had this surgery. Was it a success?

If the doctor said yes, I would go with him. I tore mine, but it healed up fine on its own. I have full range of motion. However, I now cannot run as my knee simply cannot handle the constant pounding. I am only 21 and already with a "bum" knee.

my step dad had the procedure done, and he's doing great!
his was an out-patient procedure, and he was on crutches for about 2 weeks i wanna say...? can't remember
he had it done about a year ago. just make sure you have a good doctor performing it.
good luck!

I didn't need surgery for my complete MCL tear, but I can't play on sand anymore, if i plant my feet in sand then twist I re-tear it almost every time.
