ultrasound on knee causes pain?Therapists think I'm nuts, but ultrasound for knee and joint pain has caused more pain than initial injury. I know ultrasound is supposed to help relieve pain but when transducer is applied, the longer it has contact, the more intense the buildup of pain. When removed, the pain subsides. Please, does anyone else feel this, or am I an extremely bizzare freak?
hmmmm, please only respond if you've actually had an injury and experienced an ultrasound.

uR extremely bizzare.. It does not cause pain and it doesn't relieve pain or whatsoever, it is 100% safe and for diagnostic purposes only.

No you are not a freak, this can be painful, but shouldn't be. Your therapist can adjust the intensity and the duty cycle, as well as the transducer motion speed. Ask him/her to do pulsed ultrasound at 50% or lower.
