What ailment can cause ones knees to be sore & hot while sleeping (while rest of body is normal temperature)?A friend's doctor has been unable to determine what's wrong, and blood tests didn't detect Rheumatoid Arthritis. There wasn't any injury to her knees. She's 20 years old and just woke up one morning to painful feet and now sore knees.

If rheumatoid arthritis is ruled out, then maybe it's gout - your description is classic gout symptoms.

my best friend is a medic and i asked him and he says that tendenditis, or possibly could be some issue with the muscles. he said to go to the doc because it could be clots which she doesnt want to mess with.

I am not a health practitioner but as I have been suffering from the same ailment, I am in opinion that excessive uric acid may also cause your knees to be sore & hot.
She can try some common diuretics and also see if she is using a same kind food for long time which may also increase uric acid.
