What should I do with a torn knee cartilage?

What should I do with a torn knee cartilage?I have gone to the doctors 2 times now! First time they said I bruised my knee very badly. Second time I went they put me through ex ray, everything went fine but they said I tore cartilage. They gave me a brace to wear that doesn't work. My knee seems to be getting worse. It is still numb, swollen, cant crawl on anything, and I keep getting sharp pains in my knee as if someone was stabbing me with a screw driver. I have had this injury for 5 almost 6 months. Can someone please tell me what I should do? thank you

heyy heyy, i know exactly what your going through, i strained my Knee over 4 years ago and the pain i went through was something i hope i dont ever go through again....yess i think you should go to your FamilyDoctor and get an Xray or MRI, i think you might have torn your Cartilage in your knee which i think might need surgery, but if it isnt that bad, i think all you will have to put up with is 5 to 7 weeks in a Brace that actually works....i hope you feel better :)

the same thing happen to me. i went to a orthopedic surgeon and they took an x-ray and everything was fine and then i had to get a MRI because it was still hurting me and found that i had torn cartilage and little tear in my patella tendon so i was put in a brace for about 4 months or so and was to wear it all the time except to bed of course. then it still was hurting so he gave me a cortisone shot and that didn't work and then he said he wanted to do surgery so in october of 2009 i had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee and he cleaned everything out and fix what needed to be fix but now it feels great a lot better then before. the only bad thing is that my doctor took a year before doing surgery. it sucked cause i'm only 15 so i couldn't just lay around all day. well hope that helps. good luck!
