'Hello, from one knee pain to another knee pain"

I recently saw an Orthopedic doctor. X-rays showed wear and tear, some deposits but was told that I am not yet a candidate for knee surgery - about that I am glad. His remedies were Cortisone shots or Ibuprofen pills. We both know that this stuff is harmful.

All went well until this past weekend. Out of nowhere I got such terrible pains for two days that left me incapacitated for 48 hours. I took aspirin and Ibus to get possible swelling down, nothing helped. Today I have a little discomfort, I am cleaning house (taking short breaks in between), and so far I am fine. I hope it lasts.

Did some research and found a product called "Devil's Claw". This is derived from the root of an African Plant and is supposed to rinse out debris in the joint and help with joint discomfort. Found it at a Health Food Store and am trying it out. I hope that it works so my poor knee can smile again. From what I gather, I don't need to take it all the time, only when I experience pain.

Another remedy I just heard about from someone who cannot afford health insurance. That persone is using powdered fruit pectin, also from a Health Food Store. She mixes 1/4 teaspoon per 8 oz of juice or water, and drinks this daily for maintenance. I will try this also as I have not heard of any side effects, and it is rather inexpensive.

Good luck and hopefully your knee will heal.

I am going to have the same procedure you had, because I have a complex meniscus tear, commonly referred to as a bucket tear. I was in major pain when I first did this to my knee, but it has been almost 3 months, and it has gotten better, by doing nothing, to the knee. They wanted to do surgery before I had an MRI,and I said no way. Now that I have seen the MRI, and have had 2 friends that had this procedure done, they are doing fine, with no repeat surgery. I believe it matters on how bad the cartilage is, or those big ligaments. I was fine, except for the cartilage only. I think you should get at least an MRI done of the other knee, then you can decide what to do. Man, all of a sudden, there seems to be a whole lot of people with knee damage. I did check out my surgeon, on the Kaiser website, his school, etc. etc., and talked too many people about him. I am nervous about doing this, as I hate the whole medical thing, but sometimes you got to go for it. You know , it might be a good idea to have both of your knees checked with the MRI, before any more surgery. But I will say, the tests are good, and with the right surgeon, you are back on your feet soon. I wish I was a pro football player, as they get the best of the best when it comes to knees, and they are playing again, in a couple of weeks, Well, good luck on this.
