Painful knee?

Painful knee?I'm a runner on a high school cross country team (one of the better ones so i push myself very hard.) recently however, i've been getting sharp pains in my knee as i run, and it only occurs when i bend my knee backwords for the next step. It feels as though its inside the knee and it is excruciating. I've been icing it as the trainor says, but i was wondering if there was any more to this problem?

You should go see your doctor. Any kind of knee problem if not looked at could cause big problems later on. You could have tore something in there or it could be a stretched ligament or something. Go see your doc and have him do some xrays and other tests to find out whats up with your knee.

i had a similar problem with my knee and it started off with a torn piece of cartilage, i then had to have microscopic surgery. once that didn't work and i was still having the same pain i found out that my cartilage was just breaking away and i had to wait for a donor piece of cartilage. that wait was about 4 months that surgery was very tough and painful, and i would not recommend it to anyone. because i was too young to get a full knee replacement they said that the donor was best. it was 7 weeks of non-weight bearing then another 2 months with crutches and partial weight bearing. even now i have to still go for 3 artificial cartilage injections and it still hurts. if you find that you have anything similar go for a knee replacement the recovery time is less then half of what i went through and the effective rate is very high. hope this helps and good luck
