I can't speak for everyone, but I had the same surgery 18 months ago (also torn miniscus). I had practically no pain from the surgery, and was moving around with crutches the next day. I had a brace on my knee for about 4 weeks, but was back at work after 2 weeks (my wife drove me). They start physical therapy with a couple of days of surgery, and I was released from therapy in just under 6 months. If you really follow their instructions, you'll be amazed how quickly you get your strength back.
I am able to do everything I could before surgery, and my knee feels fine. I think insurance should cover at least most of your expenses - I wish you the best.

i had torn nee ligaments you should be OK in 3 months the surgery is pretty straight forward it will sting a bit afterward but you will be given painkillers to numb the pain it takes time to regain full strength but your nee will be as good as new once healed

Everyone heals differently, you might be up and about in a few days or it could be a few weeks, but thing to remember is take your time and don't push to hard

My husband had this done in the same knee along with a miniscus (however you spell that LOL) and his PCL repaired in the same surgery. You may not necessarily be in bed for six months. They told my husband that too. He was down for ten days and they started physical therapy the minute the staples were taken out of his leg. The surgery itself is not painful, you are put to sleep by injection. It's basically an out patient proceedure. The time length isn't long. You will need someone to take you home after you come out of it. You won't be able to drive because you will be very impaired. If you complete your physical therapy and do exactly what the therapist say, they'll have you running around in no time. I did a lot of research on this prior to his opperation. I found that the time length of the healing process veries from person to person. Depending on your body and how well you keep ontop of what the physical therapist tells you to do. Don't be scared. My husband is back to the punching bag and playing sports. So don't worry. Things are going to be okay! You'll be fine!
