What should I do for a sore knee cap?

What should I do for a sore knee cap?Today during my soccer game I got kicked in the knee and my kneecap and surrounding hurts a lot.. Especially when I bend my knee. I put Rub A535 all over it, but I'm not sure that it will help becasue it's mainly for muscles... Also, I will ice it later... Any other suggestions for easing the pain and making it better?
