Why is Toe Walking bad for you?
Yes, Actually it has been researched and there are some negative effects...
Some include:
Upset Stomach
Soar Throat
Dandruff
Receding Hairline.. Ect.i suppose you could shortem the tendons on your foot and, possibly legs by walking this way. Are you flat-footed?Actually, we do not really know the answer to this question. There are many theories about toe walking...most of which are purely that...theories.
Theories exist that toe walking is associated with neurological damage (such as cerebral palsy)
Theories exist that toe walking is "bad" for you and will lead to other joint problems.
...but these exist primarily as theory and no real evidence exists that prooves that toe walking is a "bad" thing. To further propegate theory, one can say that if you continue to always walk on your toes, that you will get a shortened achilles tendon. As you age, this could make it difficult for you to walk and you might be at a higher risk for falls. However, if you are only toe walking sometimes, we can speculate that this may not happened to you. I would say if you make an effort to maintain flexibility in your calves (namely the ability to flex your feet upwards instead of always having your toes pointed) and you engage in activities that are good for balance...yoga, exercise in general, etc. you should be fine.Many of the doctors I have taken my son to say that it can deform your feet. My son is a toe walker and we a trying to help him stop.
