21 years old with severe knee pain at night typically during the fall & winter, any idea on what it could be?I often get wakened by the pain & find it difficult to bend my knee at that point. I sleep with my boyfriend in a pretty small bed which means I don't move around at night a lot. During the day it hurts slightly when I bend my knee. I find it hard to bend down completely. The pain is mainly in my left knee.

this prob isnt it but for me when i had a problem similar to this it was because i would sleep on my side with my knees on top of one another. Try sleeping with your knees resting on something soft. Cuz the next day for me espeacially i would get severe pains in my knees to the point where i couldnt walk. after i tryed this the pains went away!

I would suggest you to visit a doc rather than trying any thing on it. One of my friend had some what similar problem and he didn't care a lot so at the end when the pain became unbearable, he visited doc and they suggested knee replacement surgery.
