How am I supposed to work out or do cardio if I supposely have a torn meniscus & walk w/ a limp cause of pain?I get an MRI Aug 5, 2008. But the Dr. says that it may be a torn meniscus. I am used to working out all the time, doing cardio and lifting weights but it makes my knee worse and pain medication doesn't help. How am I supposed to continue so i don't gain weight and stay in semi shape?

You are gonna have the stop working out because you could further damage your knee and extend your recovery time. Just maintain a clean and healthy diet. It will keep you from gaing and also supply the nutrients to help reover fast.

You've got to get the load off the knee. Only way I know to do that is water aerobics.

If you have a knee injury the best thing you can do is rest it and stay off of it until you know what is wrong. I am in my 20's and have arthritis in one of my knees from a previous injury (in my case I fractured my knee cap), so I know how important it is to take care of your knee. Perhaps ask your doctor what he or she suggests. I've also severely sprained my knee before and the doctor had me go to physical therapy. Just eat healthy and try not to make your injury worst. Good luck.
