How do you heal chronic knee bursitis?

How do you heal chronic knee bursitis?I had knee bursitis for about an year and a half now. I should have rested as soon as i got knee bursitis but i didn't. I began to rest recently and have rested for about 3 weeks now. It seems like i have no progress. I really love soccer and basketball so i wish i can play as soon as it heals.
