Knee Disorders: Is the stationary bike good for knee problems?

Is the stationary bike good for knee problems?I've had multiple arthroscopies for damage to the back of my kneecap, and sometimes get pain. I've heard that cycling on a stationary bike can assist with the knee problems. Is that true?

Depends what part of the knee. If its your kneecap or ligaments. It's a bad idea, it stresses it the most. Try walking or swimming something low impact, be careful not to hurt your knee again.

A stationary bike can help by strengthening you quads and it's the quads that help keep the knee cap in its proper position so that they don't get too close to the knee joint. But remember, like with any exercise, if it hurts to do it, stop and consult your doctor. Sore muscles are ok, but knee pain isn't. Good luck!
