Meniscus tear............?I have a meniscus tear and I went to the doctor and he told me i should have surgery. Its either a menisectomy or a meniscus repair. I would like to ask anyone that has had the procedure for the price of both the surgeries.

it really depends on what kind of insurance u have. call ur hrealth insurance company and see. If you don't have insurance, it can run u a few thousand. I had mine repaired

I had the surgery for a torn meniscus. It was the best thing to do. My knee constantly hurt, I could not stand or walk comfortably. I am now pain free. My surgery was covered by insurance. I believe it was around $ 3000.00.

cost i think is reletivaly close to the same....
how much you actually have to pay will depend on your insurance and what your copayment is... if you dont have insurance try and set up a payment system with your doc...
as for the recovery period... a repair will take much longer for recovery...and they say is better in the long run...
however, a removal will get you back to your sport or activity alot faster...
which procedure is done depends on where the tear is located(amount of blood supply to the meniscus)... as well as your age and activity level
