Opinion on knee pain/injury?What is the recovery period on knee injury?
Here's the basis: I dislocated my patella back in July and after a brief on and off period of immobilization and crutches, I was allowed to start PT.
I'm 7 weeks into PT to which I have been dedicating myself 110%. I still have knee pain due to maltracking of my patella like patella-femoral syndrome. It's a direct result of my dislocation as I never had that problem before.
Pt has made me knee a heck of a lot stronger than it was after immobilization. However, I still can't even straightline jog and it still hurts! Is it normal for it to still hurt even though I have faithfully completed a lot of hours of intense PT and everything is "healed"?
Why does the pain last for 3 months after a dislocation it's back in place?
Thanks :)
Also, my doc mentioned various surgeries such as MPFL and lateral release. How much longer will they have me try PT before they make the decision?
I want to play sports so bad again!

It may just be that your knee will never really go back to being 100%. I would NOT recommend the lateral release I have had 2 done on my right knee and one on the left and they did NOT work they made things worse. Just give your leg more time might take a bit more than 3 months. The recovery for the Lateral Release is up to 1 year before you are feeling back to normal that is if it works.
