What can cause knee pain in obese people?I myself, am obese. I am 22, 6'0", and weigh 315 pounds. My job requires me to stand for extended periods of time. Doing this for the past six years has caused me to have pains in my right knee from time to time. The pain is only intensified when I put weight on that leg.

You may have joint degeneration from all the pressure on your knee. I would see a doctor and see what the damage is to your knee. Try wrapping it for extra support while you work. Good luck. I know how much pain can interfere with life.

I sure hope this question is a big joke. No pun intended.
Knees are designed to carry a 70-90 kilo person around.
Any heavier, the knees are working over their ability.
You either need more knees or less weight.

The answer is in your question. Being overweight puts A LOT of stress on your knees. Other than taking medication to manage the pain, the only real solution is losing weight. You could try a knee brace for some extra support.
I am in a similar situation. I started an exercise regime to lose weight that included jogging and now my knees are killing me!

I'm glad you asked this question. I too am obese over 400 pounds and 5'6" and have put on quite a lot of weight recently. I am also experiencing pain but in my left knee. I guess this is aggrevated by how heavy I am but doubt it is the cause as my other knee is fine. Let me know how you get on.
