Strange knee pain at night?I am 18 years old and this pain in the inside of my knee (the joint) has been happening to me for a couple years but this doesn't happen all time. About 2 - 3 times a year my knees start to hurt. Usually on my right knee I start to feel a burning sensation and I feel like I have to keep moving it but when I move it, it will hurt even more so I have to keep it still even though it hurts. The pain only lasts about 5 - 8 min. then I feel way better after that. The weird thing is that usually happens in the middle of the night and when it's cold outside or in my room but it's painful because it wakes me up. It's mostly on my knees but it has happened on my elbows before too. I don't know if its arthritis or not. My mom has arthritis but I didn't think I could get it this early! And today I went out for a bike ride for about 40 min. and now my knees are hurting again. Not as bad as they usually do at night sometimes but I still feel the burning and a little pain. Do you know what this is? Or what you might think it is? I would go ask my doctor but the next available day I can get in is the 30th of this month. So please tell me everything you can think of!

I have the same thing. I use to play volleyball and the school didn't provide knee pads. I went to the doctors and they took blood, tested for everything but came up with nothing. I've been told that it could be arthritis. You don't think that you could get it so young but it is possible. I returned to the doctors (a different doctor) a few years later because the pain was keeping me up at night and she said that what I described sounded like arthritis, I'm only 22. She gave me some exercises I could do but that's about it. Go to http://www.webmd.com and use their symptom checker and it will give you some possibility's of what it could be.
