If I went to the knee doctor (injury from running) what would they do?I don't want to get a needle or anything like that. Would I get an xray? I think it might be runners knee. It's been bothering me for over 2 weeks and I can't run because of it. So what would the doctor do if I went to the doctor, and do I even need to go to the doctor?

You might just have to deal with it. Go get it fixed.

The only way you would 'get a needle' if you don't want one is if the doctor pins you down...
There are many treatments for runner's knee, and you might not even have that - go see a doctor, and perhaps the only treatment you might need would be some physical therapy.

been there done that ...after 20 yrs of running and several marathons Ive had just about every running injury you can imagine ...mostly my own fault from over training.so beware...anyway Ive had a lot of knee injuries and they are very painful hard to even walk let alone run ..don't even attempt to run through the pain will only make matters worse...you have runners knee ...i would go to a doc who specializes in sports medicine ...yes probably an x ray would show if anything is torn or out of place.. try some anti inflammatory like ibuprofen or alieve doc might prescribe something stronger but they are hard on the stomach...Ive had cortisone shots in my knee but they don't cure the problem all together ...if you are a die hard dedicated runner like i was its hard not to try and run when the pain lessens ...do some light weight training on the knee to strengthen it also check your shoes make sure you are wearing a good pair with good support they may be expensive but are worth the money ...if you don't want to go doc just rest the knee don't run and find another form of exercise that doesn't strain the knee like cycling indoors ..spinning for ex. will keep you fit ..good luck...it will take some time but youll be putting in the miles again before you know it

It would depend what it wrong with your knee. If it is runner's knee, there is not a whole lot they can do. They will tell you to ice it, and they will tell you which stretched and strengthening exercises will help it. If it's something more serious, then you may need some diagnostic tests.
