Knee Disorders: I have to dance today but am getting really bad knee pains?


I have to dance today but am getting really bad knee pains?I'm 12 years old, and today I have a dancing eisteddfod.
I've been having really bad knee pains, whenever I move my knee joint. For example, running for me would be just too painful because of the range of motion the knee goes through. Anyway, what am i doing to do? It might be incredibly painful if I try to dance at this eisteddfod.

Sweetie, you are going to have to ask your parents about this one. I know it is hard to talk with a parent some times because of their expectations but you are their responsibility and someone who is closer to the situation is going to have to help you.

If the pains are coming when you try to bend your knees which would make it hard to go up stairs as well, then you more than likely have the tendons for your kneecaps shortened up which can happen when they sense pain around them, perceived or real. Once that happens the only way of making them feel better is to get the tendons released. Here is how you can do that:
Kneecaps:
Do while sitting on a chair with no front cross braces.
While sitting have your leg resting in a stretched mode. Place both your thumbs, side by side, about 2 inches behind the kneecap and press down into your leg and then redirect the pressure a little towards the kneecap. After 30 seconds, slowly slide your foot back and under your chair as far as it will go, release the pressure but hold your foot there for another 30 seconds.
the important part of this is the down pressure on the leg. If you don't have enough of that this won't work. If you have that happen try it again once more. One gal wrote to say it took her three times to finally get it but it did work for her.
