meniscus tear??

meniscus tear??if i have a slight tear in my meniscus is it ok to continue doing physical activity such as squatting and lifting weights?

Most likely
I have had FIVE knee surgeries on the same knee...most recently a total knee replacement...
If the tears do not bother you (they must be very minor if you are experiencing no pain) then you can do whatever your body will allow you to do comfortably...keep in mind, though, the tears can get worse and limit your mobility. However, if you experience pain when doing those activities...STOP.
You may well need a 'scope eventually to clean out the tears.

No pain no gain is so false. The only thing you will end up gaining is a mountain of medical bills. Listen to your body. Sometimes a meniscus tear won't affect anything. Sometimes it causes other parts of your knee to catch on it as in my case. If you are in pain and standard treatment doesn't work chances are it will only get worse if you ignore it. Listen to your dr get a second opinion and from there the choice is yours.

I wouldnt do squats if I were you! In fact, I wouldnt even jog or play tennis or basketball. Sudden jerky movements could injure it worse.

Remember....You only have one miniscus! If you tear it more or even crack it in half, youre in for surgery and months of recovery...and youll never be 100% again.

Doing bench presses or upper body weights is ok as long as youre not standing on your legs. Any milder excercises that dont place so much weight on your bent knees is ok. The fact that squats are so jerky and forceful almost guarantees you will tear it worse. Id give up the weight rack for a bicycle or swimming. Seriously. I know, I just had surgery two days ago for cartilage damage to my left knee. Be good to your knee! Once its gone, its gone!
